What a great conference! It was the first time for me to be at the russell davies Interesting 08 in London, and it was really worth it. This conference was not about famous speakers or fancy goodie bags, it was all about inspiration. The speakers talked about what interesting to them. Every presentation addressed a different theme, from toilets, music, graphic design to geography. Every speech was between 5 -20minutes, so it never got boring. I filled my sketchbook and my brain with a lot of new inspiration and I will share it with you in some of my upcoming posts.

Create change instead of ads!

Here is the proof! Advertising agencys can help to change the world. The Lead India Campaign for The Times Of India started out with a single front page ad and ended up as mass movement for political and social change.

An idea that moved an entire country, reached over 1 billion people and established a new generation of political leaders in India.

“The campaign was a call to arms to all Indians to do something to make India a better place, to stop complaining and make a difference.” said Nishad Ramachandran (Vice President and Group Creative Director, iContract Advertising)

We need ideas like that. Ideas that move people, ideas that are relevant and really make a difference. I hope to see more of them, and there will be if we start to create change instead of ads.

What a great idea, to establish an own category to solve the world`s problems. Instead of wasting all the energy on scamp ads, produced only to win fame & prices, we could use our creativity and ideas to create something meaningful, something that helps to change the world.

Ideas like this one:

I was deeply impressed by droga5´s tap water project last year. There had been so many social campaigns before, but this was the first time that an ad agency created an idea that lived way beyond their media budget. Instead of a simple ad campaign for UNICEF, they invented an own brand & product. A product that reached 80 million + people, that raised 5,5 million dollar (June 2007) and provided 1,700.000 (and counting) days of clean water to children. An idea that will save millions of children lives.

Shouldn´t we use our talent to create ideas like that? Droga5 demonstrated that it is possible, and there are so many problems out there we can solve! So let´s start to think about more than advertising!

What would the Future of Advertising be like? I´m wondering about this question all the time. This presentation from S&F Strategy Group is a great summary and I´ll adress many of these topics in my upcoming posts. It´s gonna be interesting to see if S&F can put these theories into practice. I´m curious about it.

Hi out there, so this is my first blog-post. Way to long I was just a passive observer of what´s going on in the blogosphere. From today I want to join this global conversation and share my ideas and visions with you.

I´m looking forward to interesting chats, discussions and contacts to soulmates and revolutionists around the world, who want to shake the old-fashioned advertising industry up. I believe that we could do way more than just classical advertising for our clients, their brands and products. We need new innovative ideas and concepts and a whole new mindset on how we think & work. This blog is about these ideas and my search for them.
