Well, its Christmas and the year about to end, time to take a look back on the last months and summarize.

It was on the 3rd of June when I wrote the first post on this blog, and at that time I didn´t know what to expect from it. Today, to be honest I don´t want to live without it anymore! I met so many interesting people around the world, soul mates with different backgrounds, planners, creatives, professors and students. People who inspired and motivated me, people who I would never have met without this blog.
Even if it´s sometimes hard to find enough time to write about everything you have in mind (like in the past weeks) it´s always a great feeling to share your thoughts and ideas and get feedback on them.

So I want to thank everybody for reading and participating. And next year, we will continue our fight against senseless advertising and old school marketing and change this industry for the better!

Augmented Reality – the future of advertising?

It´s called Augmented Reality and it is basically the combination of real-world and computer-generated data. This technology will change the way we interact with information completely.
I visited Y-Dreams, a very innovative company in Lisbon last year. They already have some really interesting Augmented Reality products for advertising in their portfolio . It was fascinating to see all this new possibilities when I walked around in their show room.

This is one of their projects they did during the world cup 2006:

It´s amazing to see how much fun people can have while they interacting with a piece of advertising. This technology can transform your ad from being disruptive to be an exciting and engaging experience.

That was actually the inspiration for the mini clubman “the other test-drive” project, we did in German cinemas.

What a great idea, to establish an own category to solve the world`s problems. Instead of wasting all the energy on scamp ads, produced only to win fame & prices, we could use our creativity and ideas to create something meaningful, something that helps to change the world.

Ideas like this one:

I was deeply impressed by droga5´s tap water project last year. There had been so many social campaigns before, but this was the first time that an ad agency created an idea that lived way beyond their media budget. Instead of a simple ad campaign for UNICEF, they invented an own brand & product. A product that reached 80 million + people, that raised 5,5 million dollar (June 2007) and provided 1,700.000 (and counting) days of clean water to children. An idea that will save millions of children lives.

Shouldn´t we use our talent to create ideas like that? Droga5 demonstrated that it is possible, and there are so many problems out there we can solve! So let´s start to think about more than advertising!

Hi out there, so this is my first blog-post. Way to long I was just a passive observer of what´s going on in the blogosphere. From today I want to join this global conversation and share my ideas and visions with you.

I´m looking forward to interesting chats, discussions and contacts to soulmates and revolutionists around the world, who want to shake the old-fashioned advertising industry up. I believe that we could do way more than just classical advertising for our clients, their brands and products. We need new innovative ideas and concepts and a whole new mindset on how we think & work. This blog is about these ideas and my search for them.
